BLURB

Tragedy brings together a reserved but brilliant sculptor and an outgoing gallery owner, friends whose love was sidetracked—but was always meant to be deeper.

BLINDSIDED

SoCal natives, Nate and Cody have been friends since childhood. Both knew they were different—and the same. At seventeen, a stolen weekend in the Florida Keys drove their connection deeper and hotter than either could imagine. They were meant to be together. Then, for reasons only Nate knows, suddenly they weren’t.

They’re still friends. Best friends. But they’ve moved on and found other partners. The yearning remains, however, despite the long-ago secret that drove them apart, and when tragedy strikes, both men find themselves in the dark. They must grope their way back to who and what they are...which they will find in each other’s arms. Sometimes, losing one’s sight can open one’s eyes—and heart.

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT:

Cody

“You been down to your studio yet, checked it’s still in one piece?” I knew I was pushing but I couldn’t help myself.

“No. That’s not in the cards anytime soon.” Nate’s tone was defeated and I hated that. “I need to get used to normal living before I even think about anything else.” Knowing he needed it, even though he’d say differently, I pushed a bit more.

“Well, when you do— you should know that last week I spoke to a guy I know who teaches visually impaired people how to do art stuff. He’s involved with that society that promotes art to the blind and he also teaches techniques and stuff to help people create their own. I told him about you and he says when you’re ready, I should take you down to his place. I know that’s still a ways off but, you know. When you’re ready.”

Marty had been adamant I push Nate back into sculpting somehow. I’d gotten in touch with people and found out what the options were.

I held my breath, knowing how Nate felt about his art now he was blind. He didn’t believe he could do it. I knew he could. There wasn’t any argument.

“Cody, you know I love you. And I appreciate what you’re trying to do. I’m not sure I can.”

Oh wow, did he say he loved me? My heart went pitter-patter. I’m such a sap. “Bullshit. Just because you can’t see doesn’t mean you can’t use your hands. You have to look at things differently, that’s all.” I sniggered. “I didn’t mean to say that.”

“Yeah, you did,” Nate bit back, but I could hear he was perking up. “Christ, I don’t know what I’d do without you. You always make me feel better, not like such a freak. Thanks, man.”

About the Author

Susan bio pic

Susan Mac Nicol is a self-confessed bookaholic, an avid watcher of videos of sexy pole dancing men, geek, nerd and in love with her Smartphone. This little treasure is called ‘the boyfriend’ by her long-suffering husband, who says if it vibrated, there’d be no need for him. Susan hasn’t had the heart to tell him there’s an app for that…

In an ideal world, Susan Mac Nicol would be Queen of England and banish all the bad people to the Never Never Lands of Wherever -Who Cares. As that’s never going to happen, she contents herself with writing her HEA stories and pretending, that just for a little while, good things happen to good people.

Sue is a PAN member of Romance Writers of America and is a member of the Romantic Novelists Association in the UK. She’s also Editorial Manager at http://www.divinemagazine.biz, an online LGBTQ e-zine, and she’s a Charity Board trustee at http://wwwbeingmecampaign.com in London.

She’s passionate about research for her books and has stayed in a circus, taken lessons from a blind person on how it feels to be non-sighted, and travelled to a lighthouse with maintenance crew to see first-hand what it’s like inside. She’s also writing a screen play with a Hollywood actor named Nicholas Downs, with a view to taking her latest release, Sight Unseen, to the big screen.

All in all, she’s happy with her lot and loves that you love to read her books.

You do, right?
